Passing on

Seeking common ground

"We invest in a poetics of the common good,
affirming that dance is a right —
a language, a force that brings people together."

Since the company was founded, we have been strongly committed to bringing art to the forefront of experience by offering shared creations and ambitious workshops for amateurs.

For Olivier Dubois, dance is not a secondary activity. It is a right, a language, a tool for emancipation. We believe in the power of collective creation: taking to the stage, experiencing a work, feeling the intensity of the performance, breathing together without ever fading into the background.

Our formats adapt to your venues, your contexts, your audiences: small-scale performances in public spaces, large participatory creations, transmission workshops… Always with high standards, joy, and the desire to bring people together around a sincere artistic experience.

Would you like to write this chapter with us? Let’s build a tailor-made project together — one that reflects you and your audience.

Dancing together, without conditions.

Here, no one is excluded. No body is illegitimate, no journey too broken, no silence too heavy. All it takes is desire.

Within this desire lies a force: the power to rise up, to overcome invisible barriers — social or internal — that sometimes keep us from believing in our own place.

As we have witnessed, those who thought they were “out of reach” discover that they can, that they know, that they resonate, that they dance.

Dance creates a collective power that reveals to each individual their freedom and dignity. And it is together, step by step, that we bring this to life.

The Shared Movement: Compagnie Olivier Dubois’ Artistic Commitment

For over fifteen years, Compagnie Olivier Dubois has been cultivating a demanding yet generous approach to artistic transmission.

Nearly one hundred projects have been created: workshops, large-scale participatory events involving up to 900 high school students on stage (such as Origami in Roubaix), masterclasses, and professional coaching sessions. These experiences combine technical training, repertoire exploration, and collective immersion — all aimed at enhancing the visibility of contemporary dance while promoting equal access to culture.

This commitment unfolds in multiple dimensions:

Shared creation

• Creations with and for amateurs
• “Extended” performances: remakes of major works from the repertoire with amateurs and professionals

Professional coaching and tutoring

• "In Corpore" masterclasses
• Repertoire of pieces for professional training schools
• "Fast Track" choreography masterclass

Outreach events

• Workshops for all audiences:
"Corpus Chorus"

Anchoring dance in territories, sustainably.

For the Olivier Dubois Company, territorial anchoring is a choice and a commitment: to make dance a language that connects, a living artistic presence that nourishes social bonds. Creating with and for territories means opening up spaces for encounter, dialogue, and sharing, where dance is most needed. In schools, neighborhoods, public spaces, in cities and rural areas, the company strives to make dance a vehicle for inclusion, empowerment, and cultural vitality.

We pay particular attention to co-constructing each project with our partner organizations, in close and constant dialogue, in order to take into account specific contexts, identified needs, and regional issues. This collaborative working methodology allows us to define appropriate formats and tailor our support to the target audiences, the objectives set, and the implementation timelines. Each collaboration thus becomes an opportunity to deploy a tailor-made project that is consistent with local cultural policies and capable of fitting into existing dynamics while contributing to their reinforcement.

> In the long term, through residencies or multi-year partnerships, to develop long-term projects and help structure the artistic presence in the regions;

> On an as-needed basis, upon request, to support specific events or respond to calls for projects

This ability to develop customized projects ensures that artistic proposals meet the expectations of partners and communities, thereby promoting a lasting and meaningful impact on participants and audiences alike.

A dedicated team committed to supporting the projects

The company’s efforts to share and create are supported by a loyal, experienced, and committed team led by Olivier Dubois. For many years, he has surrounded himself with dancers from the company and artistic collaborators who share the same high standard and commitment to transmission. These projects are designed and implemented in close collaboration with Karine Girard, the company’s artistic and educational projects coordinator, who supports their organization, their anchoring in the territories, and their adaptation to the audiences encountered.

This solid organization ensures that each project—whether large-scale or more intimate—meets high artistic and human standards, pays particular attention to participants, and is adapted to the realities on the ground.

A team trained in creating safe and inclusive spaces

The Compagnie Olivier Dubois team is trained and aware of VHSS (sexist and sexual violence and harassment), ensuring a safe, respectful, and inclusive working and teaching environment. This commitment is inseparable from our practices: it is about creating spaces where every participant, whether amateur or professional, can develop in an environment of trust, conducive to artistic fulfillment and respect for individuals.
