In Corpore

In Corpore is an immersive program designed for professional and semi-professional dancers. This intensive training offers the opportunity to embody the fundamentals of Olivier Dubois’ choreographic language and to experience the demands of stage work firsthand.

For over twenty years, Olivier Dubois has been developing a singular body of work within the French and international choreographic landscape. From his early solo pieces — where he laid the foundations of his movement vocabulary — to large-scale works like Révolution (2009) and Tragédie (2012), the transition from the body of Olivier Dubois to the “Duboissian” body has taken place through direct transmission to performers over the course of each creation. Today, this “Dubois technique” is clearly recognizable in each dancer who has embodied one of the company’s repertoire pieces.

“Metamorphosis,” as Olivier Dubois often speaks of it, is the transformation of a person into a dancing being — both glorious and vulnerable. This metamorphosis involves a stage of unlearning acquired knowledge to reclaim a learned, dancing wildness; where indispensable technique serves instinct alone. It is a long process that In Corpore invites you to discover — the “Dubois” corporeality.

The workshop day begins with a series of technical exercises designed to strengthen the dancer’s muscles and heighten their acute perception of essentials: the relationship to music, to space, the sharpness of the gaze, the constant pounding of the earth.

A musical, structured, and grounded body.

Then, through various explorations — a required journey in learning the Dubois theatrical body:

Integrating a complex choreographic score
Endurance
The self and the group
The pirate
Metamorphosis
A body rebellious, alive, elsewhere.

Finally, a time for performance, where all the knowledge acquired during the In Corpore training comes to life:

The Unknown of the moment — here, now, immediate and urgent — constantly readjusted in response to the physical and mental turbulences demanded by the piece.

A thinking and dancing performer.

This is the adventure In Corpore offers.

Dance repertoire for professional training schools

Olivier Dubois is regularly invited by national and international schools to restage or create performances with future professionals. His demanding and singular choreographic approach attracts the interest of institutions renowned for their artistic excellence, both in France and abroad. He supports projects across various disciplines, from classical to contemporary dance, as well as circus arts.

These collaborations have resulted in a genuine repertoire of works intended for higher education schools and junior ballet companies, including Élégie, Come Out, Audition, Collection and Carcasse. Designed for young performers, these pieces offer direct immersion into the unique and demanding universe of the choreographer.

This work is recognized well beyond French borders: in Switzerland (Ballet Junior de Genève), Austria (SEAD), as well as in France (École Nationale de Cirque de Rosny-Sous-Bois, CRR de Paris and Montpellier’s EPSEDANSE), demonstrating the relevance of his artistic approach within professional training across Europe.

Some performers trained in this context later join the company after graduating, thereby extending their connection to Olivier Dubois’ work in a professional setting and making this experience a true springboard toward professional integration.

Fast Track Choreography Masterclass: Immersion in Creation

Educational Objectives

• Offer participants a demanding yet supportive research environment that encourages risk-taking
• Experiment with group choreographic writing processes under the guidance of a choreographer
• Experience the creative process from the first gesture to the final run-through
• Reflect on one’s role as a performer
• Acquire concrete tools for composition, listening, and dramaturgy

The Fast Track masterclass program offers an intensive choreographic creation experience in a condensed format of five consecutive days (5 x 4 hours), designed for semi-professional and professional dancers, as well as emerging choreographers.

“The goal: to create an original piece in real time, inviting performers to go through a demanding and organic composition process.

More than a technical workshop, it is a full immersion into a creative process as it typically unfolds within a professional company.

It is about advancing together through the sensitive stages of creation: exploring, testing, refining. Embracing the rhythms of the work, necessary adjustments, and welcoming unexpected moments that enrich the choreographic gesture.

Composing with bodies that are present, available, and fully engaged in a precise artistic direction.”
